Sferra Fine Linens are renown for their tradition of quality craftsmanship and fabulous fabrics. Sferra began in 1891 when Gennaro Sferra began offering lace cuffs and collars in Venice, Italy. The notoriety of the workmanship and fabrics led to Sferra's introduction to the United States, where the East Coast fell in love with the offerings also. With increasing popularity, a new factory was opened near the Rialto Bridge in Venice in 1905. Continuing to introduce new designs led to a larger following with dedication to the luxury and elegance that the Sferra collection was known for. Mr. Sferra began a shop on 5 the Avenue in 1912 but continued to travel to Italy twice a year to create his designs for linens, laces, and embroidered styles. The next generation of Sferra introduced quality European fabrics to the designs with damasks from Ireland, lace from France, and embroideries from Belgium and Switzerland. 1977 presented a fresh chapter with a new owner who has sparked tremendous growth while maintaining strict quality standards and exquisite designs. We are pleased to introduce Sferra Fine Linens - we hope you will find them as delightful as we do.
