Difference in Cotton Types
There are different cotton types which can be made into bedding so how do you choose the one that is best for you? Two of the most popular types of cotton are Pima and Egyptian. There are some differences between the two types of cotton that will make your choice easier.
Pima cotton can be grown in Peru, Southwestern United States and Australia. It is known as a long staple fiber. It is able to be woven into a tighter and denser weaves with a soft texture and feel. Pima cotton is also known for less piling and fraying, as well as being very durable and absorbent.
Egyptian cotton is considered by some to be one of the finest cottons in the world due to its fiber length that allows for a more extensive weave resulting in a durable and desirable product. Egyptian cotton has long been sought after for bedding and bath linens as it is soft to the touch and absorbent, keeping the individual comfortable.
It is important to read the fabric content carefully, as cottons can be blended. You may find that the bedding or towels of your choice are 100 percent Pima or Egyptian cotton or a combination of cottons. You may wish to invest in products that are completely fabricated from your choice type of cotton for a long and enjoyable experience.
